Life Is Strange: Before The Storm
Game Director 2016—2018
Life Is Strange: Before the Storm is a cinematic narrative adventure game and the second game in the award-winning Life Is Strange franchise.
In Before the Storm, players play as teenage Chloe Price, a brash and broken young woman alone against the world who is about to meet someone who will change her life: the mercurial Rachel Amber.
Along with the other directors, I established the vision for the project and guided the team in fulfilling that vision from beginning to end.
Helped shape the story into a moving and exciting one worthy of Life Is Strange.
Designed new gameplay features, including Backtalk, a verbal sparring match.
Led level design team in making everyday environments players want to explore.
Built a creatively productive and mutually respectful relationship with the publisher.
Briefed members of the band Daughter for their composition of the game’s score.
Gave feedback and guidance on every aspect of the game: Script, cinematics, gameplay, art, and audio.
FUN FACT: Monkey Island’s insult swordfighting was one of my inspirations for Backtalk.
